What a crazy crazy week!
There has been ups and downs just trying to get used to this new “normality”, it’s a lot to take in!
But, we keep on going and try and enjoy the small things, the simple things, laugh, joke, and get creative.
Being in events I have thought about all the people who have had to cancel events such as Weddings and Anniversaries, Christenings, Hen parties etc, that can’t have been easy.
But Birthdays can still go ahead, just in a slightly different format, isolation style. It’s my Birthday coming up during the lockdown and so I wanted to share some ideas on how to celebrate a birthday in isolation to try and make this crazy time feel a bit more “normal”, whether you are isolating alone or with loved ones, now is the time to get creative to make your celebrations special.
Here is the Birthday lockdown lowdown....
DINNER UNDER THE STARS
OK, we might be in March but if you have a garden then why not use it during this time. Get wrapped up and get outside, add a few candles around the garden, maybe some fairy lights and if you have a fire pit then you’re laughing!
If you are with your other half then get them to treat you to a garden feast, did someone say BBQ!
This is a great option even if you are isolating alone. Get dressed up to the nines and then get online to family and friends. The Houseparty app is a brilliant way to get connected with a group of your nearest and dearest. If you really want to ramp it up then use @spotify and turn it into a remote disco with your favourite party crew while enjoying a homemade cocktail or two.
The amazing posty’s are still doing their thing, but if you can’t get out for your daily exercise to post a card then use @moonpig for cards and companies like @bloomandwild and @freddiesflowers who are still delivering beautiful bouquets for loved ones, I’m sure it will really make someones day.
HAVE A PICNIC.....in the garden!!
Make a day of it in the garden, get a basket filled with treats (including the wine), put a blanket down and enjoy some garden fun with the family.
A lot of new movies that flopped at the box office due to the outbreak are gaining popularity as early releases. Why not get comfy on the sofa, close the curtains, dim the lights, get the snacks in and pretend you’re at the cinema.
WASHING UP FREE NIGHT
Now even though your favourite restaurant might be shut, some restaurants are still offering a delivery/takeaway service so it’s worth calling around or looking on social media to see what your local community is offering in terms of a cheeky takeaway.
